Thermo Drum Unit is a Cylindrical shaped dryer drum supported on 4-trunnion rollers by
2 steel tyres is driven by a chain & wormgear box & an AC motor. It receives weighed cold
aggregates from slinger conveyor at one end & discharges hot asphalt mix on to a load out conveyor
from other end. Wet aggregates is heated and dryed using a high pressure jet burner fitted at feeding end
which fires high temprature flame into the drum. Sweep rotor discharges hot mix material on to load out
conveyor where a thermocouple is mounted on discharge chute to measure mix material temperature
Maximum heat transfer from flame and hot gases to aggregates is achieved by specially
designed cascading and notched flights in heating zone. Inside the drum, Spray cone fitted on
bitumen and filler pipeline mixes powder filler with liquid
bitumen first to make slurry then, further mixes with aggregates to prevent blow-out of fine
fillerin to exhaust.
Steel-cast thrust wheels prevent drum from slowly moving down-ward while running under
load. Minimum thrust force can be achived on thrust wheels via adjusting Skewable trunnion rollers to
run drum smooth with minimum wear. 2-dam plates inside drum allows longer heating & mixing time to aggregates thus, help to produce
super quality of mix.
Drum Burner
Benefits of our burner:
Low Noise
Auto ignition
Auto/manual operating mode
Perfect atomization of fuel
Wide range of heating
High combustion efficiency
Minimum maintenance leads to minimum down time of plant
Overview And Working of Thermo Drum Unit
At feeding end of Dryer Unit, 2-stage high pressure jet burner is mounted.
It has a separate skid mounted pumping & filtering unit with solenoid valves,
easily accessible for maintenance. Burner can be operated automatically either in low or High stage
as per heat requirement responding to thermocouple fitted at dryer discharge end.
A gear pump & atomizes pumps a liquid fuel into pressurize through fine holed nozzle.
Two electrodes gives spark to ignite the flame with maximum radiation heat to aggregates in
drum's heating zone. Radial gate at blower inlet automatically regulat air supply to burner blower.
The burner is fully capable of heating aggregates upto 180*C & to drive out moisture from
aggregates without leaving any carbon residue or unburnt fuel particles on hot aggregates
